Nourishing Your Holiday with Gratitude, Joy & Healthy Comfort Foods

As we move into the warmth of the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Whether you’ve been a long-term patient or someone who has recently joined our wellness community, it is truly an honor to support your health journey.

Thanksgiving is a time for connection—sharing meals, laughter, and meaningful conversations with the people we love. And while the holiday is famously centered around indulgent foods, it doesn’t have to derail your health goals. With a few simple strategies, your Thanksgiving menu can be both delicious and supportive of balanced blood sugar, steady energy, and healthy digestion.

🥗 Healthy Holiday Eating Tips

Here are my favorite ways to enjoy all the flavors of the season, without the sugar crash:

  1. Focus on colorful, fiber-rich sides
Roasted Brussels sprouts, autumn salads, sautéed green beans, or mashed cauliflower can take center stage on your plate. Fiber helps balance blood sugar and keeps you feeling satisfied.

  2. Choose smart carbohydrate swaps
Instead of sugary candied yams, consider roasted sweet potatoes with cinnamon and a touch of coconut oil. They still feel cozy and festive—without the syrupy overload.

  3. Keep protein at the foundation
Turkey, roasted chicken, or plant-based proteins help stabilize blood sugar and prevent overeating later in the day.

  4. Reduce sugar without sacrificing taste
You can enjoy dessert by lowering the sugar content and enhancing flavor with warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Pumpkin pie with half the sugar (or a sugar substitute like monk fruit) still tastes incredibly satisfying.

  5. Give your digestion a little love
A walk after dinner, a cup of ginger or peppermint tea, or a light digestive enzyme can help you feel your best after a rich meal.

🍁 Wishing You a Warm & Beautiful Thanksgiving

From our family at Anderson Natural Medicine to yours, I wish you a holiday filled with joy, peace, nourishment, and gratitude. May this season remind you of all the beautiful ways the body can heal, thrive, and carry you into the year ahead.

Thank you for being a part of our community.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Namasté,
Dr. A
